HayTime Controller – Intelligent timer for DIY hay cabinets
Automate the feeding of your horses and free up your time for stable work. The HayTime Controller has been developed specifically to make the use of hay cabinets hassle-free. It handles the hay rationing for you accurately and reliably, ensuring a consistent and even feeding rhythm for your horse.
How the HayTime Controller works
The HayTime Controller is a simple and easy-to-use controller that controls electronic locks. The locks keep the hay locker doors closed until the set time. At the set time, the hatch opens and the horse has access to a new pre-measured dose of hay. You can easily stagger feeding by setting different opening times for different locks.
Functions and features
Precise timing: you can choose 1, 2 or 3 locks for your order. A maximum of two individual opening times per day can be set for each lock. The locks open at the exact time you set.
Very long battery life: the rechargeable battery ensures reliable operation without the need for constant recharging. Depending on use and weather conditions, the device will last for around 12-24 months on a single charge. For best battery life, we recommend charging the battery before the winter season. The device is charged using a standard USB-C cable.
Nordic quality and warranty: designed and manufactured in Finland, we offer a 12-month warranty.
Serviceability: all parts of the controller system are available separately as spare parts with clear replacement instructions.
The package includes: the controller unit, your choice of locks and the necessary intermediate cables in the lengths of your choice (Note: USB-C charging cable not included).
Installation: install the controller in a place where it is protected from direct water and snow.

➔ Does the HayTime Controller need mains power or external batteries?
No need. HayTime Controller runs on a built-in battery and does not require mains power. The battery is charged via the USB-C connector and lasts for approximately 12-24 months, depending on usage and temperature conditions. It only takes a few hours to fully charge the battery.
➔ Is the HayTime Controller resistant to frost and humidity?
All our equipment has been tested for Nordic stable conditions. The HayTime Controller is resistant to frost and humidity, but should be placed in a location where it is protected from direct rain and snow. We recommend charging the battery before the winter season.
➔ Do I have to reset the opening times every day?
No need. The HayTime Controller remembers the set times, and when Repeat mode is on, it automatically repeats them every day. You can set up to two individual opening times per day for one lock (hatch).
➔ Do I have to visit the stable between openings?
Yes, you do. Although the HayTime Controller automatically opens the hatches, the hay locker hatches must be closed manually after each feeding session. At the same time, new hay is loaded into the cabinet for the next timing.
➔ How many locks do I need?
The number of locks depends on how many separate locks you want the system to open. One lock can be used to control the opening of one hatch. You can choose 1, 2 or 3 locks for your system, depending on your needs.
➔ How much weight can you put on one hay rack?
One electric lock can withstand 50 kg of direct pull. As the shelves of hay lockers are usually hinged, only part of the weight of the hay is applied to the lock – in practice, a load of up to 100 kg can be placed in a hinged hatch.
➔ What length of wires do I need and can I extend them?
The length required depends on the structure of your hay cabinet. You can easily measure the appropriate length, for example with a piece of string from your own cabinet to the locks at the controller. Wires can also be daisy-chained as required. For example, if you need a 3 meter cable, you can order a 2 meter cable with the controller, plus a 1 meter intermediate cable as a spare part. The maximum length of the cables in chains is 6 metres.
